The Red Jaina Dragon Fruit variety comes from the genus Hylocereus and from an unknown species.This variety is one of the heaviest fruit producers when ripe.The fruit typically weighs three-quarters to one pound.The fruit is semi-sweet and good to eat, but its greatest potential is the juice variety.Enriched with crimson red lycopene, the juice can complement many tropical drinks, smoothies or culinary creations.Like most varieties of red meat, fruit is very high in antioxidants.Stems are soft and triangular with medium-sized spines.The stems also have an olive color with purple new growth.The Red Jaina variety was purchased from a tropical nursery in California.
